The Honorable Woody Brown
Mayor, City of Largo
I am the Mayor of Largo Florida, which is in Pinellas County on the central west coast and has a population of over 84 thousand. I was elected to be Largo’s 34th Mayor in 2014, after serving seven years as a city commissioner. I grew up in nearby Indian Rocks Beach and graduated from Largo High School. I have bachelors in Biology from UCF and a doctorate from Life University College of Chiropractic. Jenny and I have two teenage sons who attend Largo High School.
I enjoy being involved in the Florida League of Cities and the Florida League of Mayors. I am currently on the FLC Land Use & Economic Development Policy Committee and was the Chair of the Transportation and Intergovernmental Relations Policy Committee. I was on the Florida League of Mayors Nominating Committee in 2021 and 2022 and the FLC has named me a Home Rule Hero every year since 2018.
I have been on the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council since 2008 and served as chair in 2016 and 2023-24. I also serve on the Tampa Bay Regional Resiliency Coalition Steering Committee, the Pinellas County EMS Advisory Council and I am past president of the Pinellas County Mayors’ Council. I have been a long-standing member of the Agency on Bay & Coastal Management. The ABCM is the primary community organization focusing on the protection and management of the Tampa Bay estuary and the region’s coastal waters that my family and I spend a lot of time enjoying.
As mayor, I have been at the forefront of Largo’s efforts to improve our infrastructure and enhance our activity and employment centers. I continue to work to strengthen Largo’s neighborhoods, instill community pride, and improve the quality of life for our residents.
