The Honorable Joseph B. Pinder, III
Mayor, Islamorada, Village of Islands

Joseph B. Pinder III, better known in Islamorada as “Buddy,” was born and raised in the Florida Keys. He is the sixth generation of Pinders to call Islamorada home after his ancestors settled here from the Bahamas over 150 years ago.

Buddy has a deep love of family and community. He has been married to Cerise for over 40 years and they have two children and two grandchildren.

For decades Buddy has been active in a variety of community endeavors, often engaging in efforts to preserve and enhance the history, character, and achievements of Islamorada. He is a former board member of the Coral Restoration Foundation and the Matecumbe Historical Trust, past chairman of the Historic Preservation Board, founding board member of the Florida Keys History and Discovery Center.

Buddy has been involved in many international missions in places like Cuba, Brazil, Myanmar, Thailand, Iraq, Costa Rica, and Vietnam.

After years of attending Islamorada Village Council meetings and helping the Village obtain grants and negotiate contracts as a concerned citizen, Buddy was elected to the Islamorada Village Council in 2020 and was then selected as Mayor and is now involved with the Florida League of Mayors.
