The Honorable John Eric Hoover
Mayor, City of Port Richey
I was born and raised in the Peoria, Illinois area by two loving parents. I am the oldest of 5 children. Growing up, I studied hard and made sure I was preparing for a successful future. After graduating high school with honors, I enlisted in the Air National Guard to serve my country as well as to take advantage of educational benefits. During that time, I volunteered to serve on active duty in support of Desert Shield/Storm.
Instead of delaying contributing to society, I decided to work full-time and attend college in the evenings. I graduated from McKendree College with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration and Bachelor’s Degree in Computing and Information Science. My entire career, I have spent working various roles within Information Technology and currently work for Humana as a Lead Solutions Architect responsible for their Billing Systems. In my spare time, I also run my own IT Services and Consulting Business, Hoover Investments, LLC.
I am married to a wonderful and supportive woman named Amanda. We do not have any children but are loving Bunny Parents to our Mini-Rex Rabbits named Oli and Indi. We moved to Port Richey almost 8 years ago and absolutely love it there. In the past I have served on the Board of Director’s of a Little League Baseball Association in which I also managed regular season teams and all-star teams. Later on I managed an Adult Baseball team within the MSBL organization. Recently, I served as a member of the Port Richey Citizen’s Advisory Committee and am currently serving as the Mayor of Port Richey, Chairman of our Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board and a member of the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Board for Pasco County.
