The Honorable Brenda Ash

Brenda Ash is a passionate, team-oriented leader with experience spanning in finance, mortgage lending, management, operations, and political government.

Political Experience

Brenda’s shared passion for community service and development led her into the political arena as a first-generation politician. In 2009, she was elected City Commissioner for Seat 4 and served in that Seat until 2021. During her tenure, she served as both Finance Commissioner and Mayor Pro tempore and assisted the city in achieving many community development grants.

In addition to her political responsibilities, she consistently served the community, city, and county at large through numerous means, including her sponsorship for the Senior Citizen food program, a volunteer for “Just Read’ week at Franklin County Consolidated Schools, and she has served as a board member for numerous organizations including, The Community Redevelopment Agency, Hillside Coalition of Laborers for Apalachicola (H’COLA), Franklin County TDC Board, and Apalachicola Bay Charter School Board of Directors. In 2021, she was appointed by the Board of Commissioners as the first female mayor in the history of the City of Apalachicola. She was officially elected as mayor in September 2023 when she ran unopposed.

Professional Experience

In addition to her role as mayor, Brenda is a seasoned professional. She is the founder and managing member of BrandAlly, LLC., a newly formed business with a concentration on HOA consulting and regulatory permitting. Brenda served as the General Manager of the St. George Plantation Owners’ Association for 2.5 years. As General Manager she was responsible for managing a team of 20 employees, overseeing the operations of numerous departments including security, administration, finance, property management, and building and development, to name a few. Before accepting the role of General Manager, she served as the Association’s Operations Administrator for 6 years.

In addition to her experience in community association management and government, Brenda is the former Assistant Vice President of Centennial Bank (fka Gulf State Community Bank), Lending Division in which she has 20+ years of lending experience in consumer, commercial, and residential loans, business development, and compliance review.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management from Gulf Coast State College and is a Certified Florida Community Association Manager. Brenda is a lifelong resident of the city of Apalachicola, a politician, and a seasoned professional, but her greatest joy is being the mother of two.
