The Florida League of Mayors (FLM) would like to congratulate the following mayors on receiving the “Home Rule Hero Award” from the Florida League of Cities. They are:

Mayor Mike Anderson, City of Fort Walton Beach

Mayor Robert Apgar, City of DeLand (FLM Board Member)

Mayor Scott Black, City of Dade City

 

This prestigious award is being presented to each of the mayors for their tireless efforts during the 2012 legislative session to advance the League’s legislative agenda and help protect the home rule powers of Florida’s cities. Home Rule Hero Award recipients are local government officials – both elected and nonelected – who consistently responded to the League’s request to reach out to members of the legislature and help give a local perspective to an issue.

 

Florida League of Cities Legislative Director, Scott Dudley, stated “these mayors were extremely dedicated and worked hard for the citizens of their cities. Each mayor brought that same level of commitment and energy to helping our lobbying team and was always ready and willing to contact legislators and help advocate in support of home rule. They are a valuable asset to their cities and the state of Florida.”
