Walter Kelley, Board Member, City of Lynn Haven

Walter T. Kelley was born in Coffee County Alabama. He served in the United States Air Force for 24 years and 8 months; his duties included Chief of Security Police, Superintendent of Security for Law Enforcement, Strategic Air Command and many other key positions. Mr. Kelley received the Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force commendation medal with four oak leaf clusters and many other medals and awards. He has an associate’s degree from Gulf Coast Community College in Criminology and completed the police standards course for the State of Florida. Also attended the Senior NCO academy, NCO Academy and Leadership school and many other courses related to his career field. He has held many positions in the past such as Police Chief, Chief of Security Police, Superintendent of Security and Law Enforcement for Strategic Air Command, Probation Counselor, Deputy Sheriff, City Commissioner 4years prior to his current position as Mayor (8 years) for the City of Lynn Haven. He also served on the City of Lynn Haven Planning Board 1987-1993. Mayor Kelley also enjoys sports and is especially fond of Youth sports. Chair of the Bay County Transportation Committee, Chair of the Bay County League of Cities, past chair of the NE FL League of Cities, past chair Florida Environmental Quality committee, past vice chair of the Bay County Disadvantaged Transportation Committee, member of the Bay County Economic Council, member of the International Trad Committee and presently a member of the NW FL League of Cities and a board member for the Florida Mayor’s Association.
